Christmas in our house is less traditional, more about the colour, the metallics, the shimmer and the all important disco ball!
For a studio 54 party vibe, mix metallics. Think gold, silver, brass, and reflective surfaces to bounce around the light and give a sparkling festive feel. Shimmer curtains, twinkling tassel garlands and disco balls are a firm favourite in our house for instant glitz and glamour.
Turn off the overhead lights, instead spark the candles, drape fairy lights and switch on the lamps to set the mood with a warm glow.
Layer the table with your favourite crockery and glassware. Add foliage, feathers, tea lights, trinkets, and the all important Christmas crackers.
Create festive displays choosing colours that will compliment your existing scheme. Suspend decorations at different heights using fishing wire, pile party favours high on cake stands to create a centrepiece and make use of the staircase; which makes a perfect backdrop to stagger decorations at different heights.
Head outdoors for some festive foliage, eucalyptus smells gorgeous and dries really well. Artificial stems make a great base for wreaths and garlands and can be bulked out with seasonal greenery - eucalyptus, ivy, pine, mistletoe and fir. Add baubles, pom poms, feathers and tassels, (more is definitely more). Secure as you go with florist’s wire.
Fill a large vase with branches and adorn with baubles, garlands, fairy lights. This will make an awesome addition to a sideboard or can be used instead of a Christmas tree if space is tight.
